Apart from wishing to express an obvious environmental
message , the project also seeks to bring to light the encouraging message
about beauty and how it can be gained through the aesthetic experience and
pleasure of appreciating and recycling our old traditional art forms (such as
the Effutu Asafo flag art concepts) and found objects (such as this floating
slippers debris) that some people may consider as waste.
KUMASI CURIOS SLIPPER KIOSK INTERVENTION PROJECT is also to
serve as one of the means of shearing with the general public the need to care
for our environment through art.
The works also looks at various human behaviours and their
effect on contemporary societies through a series of performances.
Scope of the Project
The project is in two parts:
The first part involves the creation of a kiosk from
floating slippers debris which was collected from the Atlantic Ocean in
southern coast of Ghana.
The second part involves a series of performances in a
selected open environment to addresses some socio-politico-economic issues of
contemporary societies which affects the world around us. This is to enable the
general public to contribute in the discussion with their personal experiences,
interpretations, reactions and criticisms.
